SUMMARY

The strategy of Economic Development of the Lithuanian regions in the context of Long-term Economic Strategy was prepared on the basis of the theoretic principles of regional development, the theories of economic growth, the experience of foreign countries, and the national regional policy.

The main instrument of regional development is the state. One of the consolidated trends of regional development is the objective of the state to balance the geographic distribution of the productive capacity.

The main point of regional econimic development in the context of long- term strategy is to ensure the opportunities of stable and high living standarts for all communities of the state.
